My journey to becoming a counsellor
My journey began with over thirty years in education, including extensive work with children with additional needs. I have an Honours Bachelor in Education. This was complemented by dedicated volunteering with youth organisations and as a volunteer counsellor at Treetops Hospice, supporting bereaved adults and children. We also gained valuable experience answering calls for Childline. These experiences culminated in a Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice, shaping our approach to grief, loss, change, and neurodiversity.

Unique experience and expertise
Our unique qualifications include dedicated experience as a volunteer counsellor within Treetops Hospice, providing profound insight into grief and loss. I maintain continuous professional development through regular training, ensuring we stay curious and up-to-date with the latest research. I work with clients over periods ranging from a few weeks to many months, acting as a trauma-informed practitioner addressing complex grief. My background also includes working within diverse educational settings with children of all ages, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and PDA.

Our compassionate counselling philosophy
My overall approach and philosophy revolves around creating a safe space for every client. I aim to build a therapeutic relationship based on trust, paying close attention to each individual without judgement, and consistently seeing them as a valued person of worth. I am flexible and responsive, adapting my approach to suit each individual's unique way of being, whether they are children, adults, or individuals exploring their neurodiversity.
